A blue colour (then velvet after having added the small catalyst into the ampoule) indicates the presence of Ketamine or one the substances of the same family such as Methoxetamine (MXE), N-Ethyl-Ketamine (NEK) or Tiletamine.
Based on a wet chemical reaction, this identification test is extremely reliable and easy to use. Insert a small amount of the substance to identify then compare the colour change with the colour chart included in the leaflet.
A blue colour indicates the presence of Phencyclidine (PCP).
This test can also identify the presence of Zolpidem (Stilnox®, Ambien®).
- This test cannot distinguish S-Ketamine from R-Ketamine.
- This test cannot distinguish between two similar drugs (e.g. ketamine & methoxetamine).
Accurate result within 1 minute.
While colour metric testing is the best method for on-the-spot screening, it is never 100% conclusive. There are many variables that can impact the result, such as user error, contaminants, and fillers. The results of a colour metric kit should be confirmed by a professional where possible using a referenced analytical method such as HPLC and GCMS.
Neither a positive result, nor a negative result means a drug is safe to use.
